« Dealers from the UK will hold more stands than those from any other country at the inaugural TEFAF New York fair this autumn. A total of 26 of 93 exhibitors are UK-based. Dealer numbers from the US come a close second with 23 in total. The breakdown is similar to that of TEFAF Maastricht – this year’s fair in March featured 71 dealers from the UK from a total of 274. However, the organisers insist that dealers’ geography had no bearing on their selection. The selection committee was comprised of four members of the Board of Trustees of TEFAF Maastricht and four external experts from the US. Their recommendations were reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors of TEFAF New York. The first edition of the fair takes place at the Park Avenue Armory from October 22-26. Among those attending from the UK are Richard Green, Koopman Rare Art and MacConnal Mason, all regular exhibitors at the European edition of the fair. TEFAF Maastricht and Artvest Partners, who are collaborating on the New York event, announced they received more than twice the number of applicants than spaces available. No further information on the number of applicants was provided “out of consideration for the applicants who were not accepted”.
